# Zero Slop — Terms of Service

**Effective 7 September 2026 · Version 1.0**

These terms are an agreement between you and Garage Capital LLC ("we", "us", and "our"). They
cover the Zero Slop website, the free browser editor, and the optional hosted MCP connector.
The installed skill and its source code are licensed separately under the
[MIT License](LICENSE), and nothing here narrows the rights that licence grants you.

No member, manager, employee, or agent of Garage Capital LLC is a party to these terms in an
individual capacity. These terms do not create a personal guarantee of the company's obligations
by any such person. Nothing in this paragraph excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

## 1. What these terms cover

Zero Slop is an open-source writing tool. Garage Capital LLC operates its hosted services.
The software and the hosted services are governed differently.

- **The software.** The skill, the local scorer, and everything in this repository are licensed
under the MIT License. That licence, not this document, sets your rights to use, copy, modify,
  and redistribute the code.
- **The hosted services.** The website at `zero-slop.ai`, the browser editor at `/try/`, and the
MCP endpoint at `mcp.zero-slop.ai/mcp` are services we operate. These terms govern those.

Using the hosted services means you accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the
hosted services. You may still use the separately licensed software. Its local scorer works
offline; editing through your chosen AI assistant depends on that assistant and its own terms.

## 2. The services are free, and there is nothing to buy

The hosted editor and MCP are free to use and do not require a Zero Slop account or payment
method. There are no paid tiers or in-app purchases. Your chosen AI assistant or another
third-party service may have its own charges.

## 3. Who may use the services

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live, whichever is
higher. If you use the hosted services for an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to
accept these terms on its behalf, and "you" means both you and that organisation. You must not use
the services if sanctions or export controls applicable to you prohibit it.

## 4. What the writing score means, and what it does not

> The score describes the text. It does not identify who wrote it. Zero Slop is not an AI-detection
> tool, an authorship classifier, or a plagiarism checker, and it must not be relied on as one.

The 0–100 writing score reflects stock phrasing, sentence variety, readability, formatting, and
tone. A high score does not mean a machine wrote the text, and a low score does not mean a human
did. Using the score to accuse a person of undisclosed AI use, to grade or discipline anyone, or to
make any employment, academic, or legal determination about authorship is a misuse of the tool and
is outside what these terms permit.

## 5. Your content stays yours

We do not claim ownership of your drafts or the edited text. You retain whatever rights you
have in them and are responsible for having permission to submit the content. By requesting an
edit, you authorise us and our service providers to process and transmit that content solely
to provide the requested service.

The [Privacy Policy](https://zero-slop.ai/privacy/) describes how the hosted services process
drafts and collect operational data. Third-party infrastructure and model providers also have
their own terms and data policies. These terms do not promise that an automated check can
independently verify a provider's retention or training practices.

## 6. Acceptable use

When using the hosted services, do not:

- submit content you have no right to submit, or content that is unlawful where you are;
- use the output to impersonate a real person or organisation, or to pass off text as someone
  else's work;
- use the tool to evade a disclosure obligation — an academic integrity policy, a publisher's AI
  policy, or a regulatory or contractual requirement to disclose AI assistance;
- attempt to derive authorship conclusions about an identifiable person from the score;
- circumvent the request limits, probe the service for vulnerabilities outside the process in
[SECURITY.md](SECURITY.md), or use automation that degrades the service for others.

We may block requests or withdraw access from anyone doing these things.

## 7. Service limits and availability

Requests are subject to size, capacity, and time limits and may be rejected or interrupted.
An editing request may return a limited result or no result. We do not guarantee a response,
a particular processing time, or an improvement to your draft.

The hosted services are provided on a best-effort basis. We may change, suspend, rate-limit, or
discontinue any of them at any time, with or without notice. There is no uptime commitment and no
support obligation. The separately licensed software does not depend on the availability of
our hosted services, but editing may still depend on your chosen AI assistant.

## 8. Output is a draft, not a verdict

Zero Slop may return machine-generated edits. Its checks attempt to identify changes to names,
numbers, quotations, links, and meaning. Those checks can miss errors, do not establish that the
original information is true, and are not a substitute for review. You
are responsible for reading anything you publish. Do not rely on the output for legal, medical,
financial, or safety-critical purposes.

Edits are produced in part by third-party language models. Output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or
unsuitable for your purpose, and identical input may produce different output. You are responsible
for reviewing scores and edits and for decisions to publish or act on them. No score or edit is a
guarantee of quality, accuracy, authorship, or suitability for any purpose.

## 9. No warranty

The hosted services are provided **"as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind**,
express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular
purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the services will be uninterrupted,
error-free, or that any score or edit will meet your requirements. The software carries the
separate warranty disclaimer in the MIT License.

## 10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Garage Capital LLC and its members, managers,
employees, and agents disclaim liability for claims, damages, or other liability arising out of
or relating to the hosted services or their output, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise.
This includes indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages and loss of
data, revenue, profits, goodwill, or reputation.

These exclusions apply only where the law permits them. Nothing in these terms excludes or
limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or removes any non-waivable
consumer right. These terms do not require either party to indemnify the other and do not
promise compensation for a score, edit, interruption, or other service outcome.

## 11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend, rate-limit, or terminate your access to the hosted services at any time, for any
reason or none, with or without notice, and without liability to you. You may stop using the
services at any time. Sections 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 12, 16 and 17 survive any termination.

## 12. Name, logo, and trademarks

The MIT License covers the source code. It does not grant any right to the **Zero Slop** name, logo,
wordmark, visual identity, or domain names, and all rights in those are reserved. You may use the
name nominatively to refer accurately to the project — for example, to say that your tool works with
Zero Slop, or to cite a score. You may not use the name or logo to imply endorsement, affiliation,
certification, or authorship of your own product, and you may not use it as the name of a fork or
derivative. Permitted uses of the official assets are described at
[zero-slop.ai/brand](https://zero-slop.ai/brand/).

## 13. Feedback

If you send us ideas, bug reports, feature requests, sample text, or other suggestions, we may use
them without restriction, attribution, or payment. Feedback is not confidential, and sending it
creates no obligation on our part. Do not send us anything you consider confidential or that you
are not free to share.

## 14. Third-party services

The hosted services run on Cloudflare and use Cloudflare's model endpoints for editing. Your use of
Zero Slop through a third-party client — ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Codex, or any other MCP host — is
also governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy, which we do not control.

## 15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page changes when we do, and
material changes will be identified on this page or in the release notes. Changes apply
prospectively, subject to any notice or consent required by law.

## 16. Governing law and courts

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard
to its conflict-of-law rules. Except where applicable law requires otherwise, disputes arising
out of or relating to these terms or the hosted services must be brought in the state courts in
Los Angeles County, California, or, where federal jurisdiction exists, the United States District
Court for the Central District of California. You and Garage Capital LLC consent to the personal
jurisdiction of those courts.

Nothing in this section takes away any consumer protection or right to bring a claim in another
court that applicable law does not allow you to waive.

## 17. General

If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, that part is limited or removed to the minimum
extent necessary and the rest stays in force. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver
of it. You may not assign or transfer these terms; we may assign them in connection with a transfer
of the project. These terms, together with the [Privacy Policy](https://zero-slop.ai/privacy/) and
the MIT License, are the entire agreement between us about the hosted services and replace any
earlier understanding. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including
for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
